Frequently Asked Questions

FACIALS

WHAT IS A FACIAL?

A facial is skin treatment for the face that can include steam, exfoliation, extractions, face masks, peels, hot towels and massage.

WHAT DOES A FACIAL DO FOR THE SKIN?

A facial is designed to cleanse, exfoliate and promote clear, well hydrated skin.

ARE THERE THINGS A FACIAL CANNOT DO FOR THE SKIN?

Yes! A facial cannot eliminate acne, permanently fade discoloration, treat rosacea, lift sagging skin, or eliminate dark circles and puffy eyes.

ARE THERE DIFFERENT FACIALS FOR DIFFERENT SKIN TYPES?

Yes. Before the facial begins the aesthetician will determine your skin type. After your skin type has been determined the products used in your facial will be appropriate for your skin type.

HOW DO YOU CHOOSE THE RIGHT PLACE TO DO YOUR FACIAL?

It can be intimidating to trust your face, in the hands of a stranger. When trying to find a spa do your facial do your homework.

  • At the very least the person doing the facial must be a qualified aesthetician.

  • The spa must be clean, professional, and have you fill out a questionnaire before anything is done.

  • Read the Google Reviews for the spa/clinic.

  • Ask your friends and family where they go,

  • You want the aesthetician to be a skin specialist, not a hairdresser who also does facials.

  • Ask where the aesthetician was trained?

DO ALL SPAS OR CLINICS OFFER THE SAME FACIALS?

No. The facials from one spa to another will differ depending on the line of products they are using in the facial treatment. Every product line will have their own unique features, ways of performing the facial depending on the protocol of the product line. But, with that said every facial, regardless of the product line that is being used will include; a questionnaire, a skin evaluation, cleansing, steam (depending on the skin the skin type), exfoliation, extractions (if necessary), massage (if appropriate), mask, and skin care advice.

HOW MANY FACIALS WILL I NEED BEFORE I SEE AN IMPROVEMENT?

Regardless of the type of facial you do, or the product line being used, a facial will only cleanse, hydrate, purify, and promote clear skin. A facial is a relaxing, pampering experience and will not treat a condition such as acne or rosacea. A facial is a healthy procedure for the skin but will not "cure" a skin condition. If you have one of the conditions mentioned above you need either medical intervention or advanced treatments found in "MediSpa's".

CAN A FACIAL TREAT ACNE, ACNE SCARS, ROSACEA, AND HYPERPIGMENTATION?

No. When you have a condition such as the ones mentioned above a facial will not treat or correct those problems. When you have an issue with the skin you require medical intervention.

To treat the issues mentioned above, you require either medication or medical grade product and services, which a facial is not.

LASHES

WHAT ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Lash Extensions are synthetic Mink, or Silk and are applied individually to the natural lash, with a medical grade adhesive, that is fume, latex and formaldehyde free.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CLASSIC AND HYBRID EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Classic Eyelash Extensions - One to one ratio creates a lovely subtle and natural look.

Hybrid Eyelash Extensions - The perfect blend of Classic and handmade Volume fans creates natural volume and fullness.

HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY EYELASHES?

Cleanse your lashes daily with lash shampoo. Pat dry. Do not let them air dry.

Brush your lashes daily.

Do not rub, pick, or pull on your lashes.

Do not use a cleanser or makeup remover with oil in it. It will break down the glue causing your lashes to fall off faster.

Do not wear mascara. Avoid getting eye makeup on your lashes.

Do not use lash curler on them.

WILL LASH EXTENSIONS DAMAGE MY NATURAL LASHES?

It is imperative that you follow our aftercare instructions to help prevent causing damage to your lashes. Cleaning your lashes daily is so important for your lash health.

HOW LONG DO THEY USUALLY LAST?

A full set will last as long as your natural lash cycle, which is anywhere from 4-6 weeks, depending on the individual. We recommend getting a fill anywhere between 2 and 3 weeks.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO APPLY THEM?

Our artists can apply a beautiful Full Classic Set of lashes in 120 minutes, a Volume Set in 120-180 minutes. We ask you to generally plan on 60-90 minutes for a fill as well. We like to remove any grown out lashes, clean them up, and make your lashes look like brand new every time you come in, this will ensure the retention and life of your extensions.

CAN I WEAR MAKEUP WITH MY LASHES?

YES! Although we don’t recommend wearing any mascara that isn't extension safe or oil based products, as it will shorten the life of your lash extensions.

WILL LASH EXTENSIONS DAMAGE MY NATURAL LASHES?

No! When applied properly, with perfect isolation and weight eyelash extensions will not harm your natural lashes.

WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE MY LASH APPOINTMENT?

  • Thoroughly wash your eyes with oil free face wash or eye makeup remover

  • Do not wear any eye make-up, but if you do we have remover here!

  • Do not curl you lashes

  • Do not drink caffeine prior to your appointment

Contraindications & Adverse Reactions

Allergy to adhesives including glues and tapes. The eyelash extension procedure uses, tape, glues, and gel pad that may cause a reaction.

Chemotherapy or Radiation Treatments within the last 6 months. The medication from chemotherapy may cause a reaction to the materials for eyelash extensions.

Use of thyroid medications will cause the eyelash extension to not last due to medications in the system.

Lasik surgery, Glaucoma or blepharoplasty within the last 6 months. Eyes may have a sensitivity to eyelash extensions and the products used for prepping the eye area (glue, gel pads).

Use of eyelash or growth serum/conditions within the last 4 weeks. They can contain glycerin, oil) that may interfere and affect the glue and its bonding power. It is suggested to discontinue use of any growth products prior to application of eyelash extensions.

Contact Lenses must be removed prior to eyelash extension application. Glue used to apply the eyelash extensions may get underneath the contact lens and can cause abrasion or scratching.

Extremely oily skin or hair. Natural oils can break down the adhesives used to bond the eyelash extensions causing them to fall out.

Seasonal allergies may cause swelling, itching and redness during the time the pollen count is the highest.

BROWS

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BROW LAMINATION AND BROW LIFT?

Nothing. They are the same thing just different names.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO PREPARE FOR A BROW LAMINATION?

Continue your daily skincare routine leading up to your appointment. If you use a retinol cream you should discontinue use 5-7 days prior to your lift/lamination treatment & for 5 days after so that your skin does not become dry with the chemical process. I always advise this with waxing as well, in order to keep the skins integrity intact. Do not trim or tweeze your own brows prior to this service for at least 2 weeks so that you can get the best results with the fullest brow possible.

WHAT ARE REASONS WHY I SHOULDN’T OR CAN’T GET A BROW LAMINATION?

Very dry skin. If you use a retinol cream daily, or AHA/BHA cleansers your skin may be too dry for this service and you should discontinue use 5-7 days prior to your treatment depending how intensive your skin care routine is, in order to avoid redness and dry skin in the treated brow area.

You can not receive this service if you have recently had any aggressive recent facial procedures (chemical peels, microdermabrasion, micro needling and laser treatments)

If you’re experiencing active acne breakouts or wounds in the brow area this service should not be done on open wounds or active breakouts.

If you’re experiencing certain types of hormonal changes or thyroid conditions that cause hair loss you should wait to receive this service until things balance out in your system.

IS A TINT INCLUDED IN THE BROW LAMINATION SERVICE?

A tint is not included in the cost of the Brow Lamination treatment. However, you can always choose to get a tint if you would like and we can add it in to your appointment. However, it will adjust the cost of the treatment.

IS THIS SERVICE SUITED FOR SENSITIVE SKIN?

You can absolutely receive a Brow Lamination treatment if you have sensitive or a reactive skin type, just let me know at the time of your service if your skin is feeling sensitive and I will take a look to make sure the treatment is a good option for you that day. Allergies and medications are ALWAYS asked before your first service and thereafter to avoid any possible issues. A brow balm is also applied before the chemical treatment so that the skin is well protected. Though we do everything in our power to ensure you do not have a bad reaction, Brow Lamination is a chemical treatment and should be viewed as such. If a reaction on your skin occurs, we ask that you reach out to us immediately and seek medical help if needed.

What is the aftercare for a Brow Lamination?

Your brows need to stay dry for 24 hours post treatment followed by daily use of a nourishing brow oil. These two things are essential steps to use after your Lamination treatment. Avoid using drying products like retinol or AHA/BHA cleansers directly on your brows after your treatment, they tend to dry out the hair and not give you as much time with your lift. Lovely Aesthetics Co offers a Brow nourishing oil that can be applied daily to maintain the health of your hair, and boost brow growth post treatment. I also advise that cold water with a gentle daily cleanser is used to cleanse the brows at night.

How can I make my lift & tint last the longest?

Avoid using drying skincare products directly on the brows, use cold water to cleanse your face and be sure to properly clean your brows at night. Use an oil-free cleanser to remove pore clogging & harmful debris that collect on the brow hair.

Will Brow Lamination cause hair loss?

No. Brow Lamination when done properly will not cause hair loss. Your eyebrows will shed naturally in cycles regardless, it is part of the process of hair rejuvenation and healthy regrowth. Your hair sheds at certain stages and then regrows as it needs to. In order to prevent excessive shedding caused from dry hair or lack of nutrients to the follicle daily use of a Brow oil will help to hydrate existing follicles and stimulate growth with nourishment. If your brows are properly cared for after your treatment you should see more brow growth over time, never sudden loss of hair in large amounts or patches.

How long will this service take?

45 minutes to 1 hr.

How long will my Lamination & tint treatment last?

6-8 weeks. The tint will last anywhere from 2-6 weeks depending on your hair health and type.

What product should I use to style my brows post treatment?

I recommend a brow powder if you need to fill in your brows between brow lamination services. A brow soap or styling gel can be used to fluff them up and hold them in place all day. Brow lamination offers a low maintenance way to have many different brow styles of your choosing that will last all day.

What is the process of Brow Lamination?

Brow Lamination is a 3 or 4 (when you include a tint) step chemical process that slowly relaxes the brow hair and makes it pliable. The first step is the relaxer - it slowly opens the hair follicle and expands it allowing it to be relaxed. The second step is a setting treatment that “sets” the hair into the direction that the hair has been relaxed into during the first step, the second step also bulks up & softens the hair so that it becomes thicker by each strand (fine hair loves this treatment) The third step is tinting and shaping if you wish to include these in your treatment. The 4th is a nourishing vitamin and keratin treatment that will infuse into your opened hair follicle and lock in nourishment for the brow hair. This step will need to be left on for 24 hours after your treatment and the brows must remain dry during that time.

Does a Brow Lamination hurt?

NO. If anything it is very relaxing. Most people fall asleep during their service.

Is a Brow Lift/Lamination safe for pregnancy/breastfeeding?

According to the brand that I use, it is not safe to receive this service while pregnant or breastfeeding.

What brow products should I avoid after my lamination treatment?

Pomades, brow waxes, and certain brow pencils are products that are not the healthiest for your hair post brow lamination treatment. I always advise that wax based brow styling products such as those listed are avoided post lamination as they can clog your pores and cause hair shedding.
